In the eighth edition of Memphis Current we listen to the philosophy and music of The Poet, Havi, one of Memphis’ most creative rappers and a brainchild behind Studio 88. We get a taste of what Chef Nick Scott is cooking at his new restaurant Salt I Soy. We remember Memphis’ own ‘Red Scare.’ We share a drink with Tony Nguyen, the head bartender of Catherine and Mary’s. We sit down with Terri Lee Freeman, the President of the National Civil Rights Museum, to talk about growing up in Chicago and the special role the museum plays in these strange times. This issue features the artwork of Sarah McAlexander, Terry Lynn, Lexi Perkins and Jordan Epperson. We hope you enjoy the eighth issue of Memphis Current as much as we enjoyed creating it.
